JUST ONE
Sometimes, all it takes is just one thing to make something feel special. A single detail — an unexpected ingredient, a thoughtful presentation, or an intentional choice — can transform the ordinary into something so special.
This idea of Just One sparked during a creative conversation with a friend. We talked about how everyday moments can be elevated by focusing on just one element. Whether it’s serving a store bought dessert in a beautiful vessel, making a small decor change that shifts a room’s energy, or choosing a unique perfume before a trip — one that, every time you wear it, brings back memories from your travels — just one thoughtful touch can make all the difference.
So here’s to Just One — a space where I’ll be sharing ways to elevate the everyday. I’ll be adding more to this space regularly, so be sure to check back for more!
Just One: Fragrance
This ritual started with our wedding. Arjit and I chose a unisex fragrance, Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone, to wear throughout our wedding weekend, and even now, that scent instantly brings us back to those moments — every laugh, every dance, every emotion. Since then, I’ve carried this tradition into my travels, picking a unique perfume for each country. Scent is one of the strongest ties to memory, and by the time I return home, that fragrance becomes a portal to the places I explored, the people I met, and the experiences I had. Months or even years later, just one spritz brings it all back — because just one fragrance can hold an entire journey.
The photo above is from our travels to Japan where I wore Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly.
Just One: Ingredient
Just one ingredient can take something familiar and make it so special. Recently, it’s been cherry syrup for me — adding depth, sweetness, and a little nostalgia to my morning latte. Find that one flavor you love and use it to elevate your everyday.
Just One: Hosting
I served store bought brownies — nothing fancy — in a beautiful steel coupe, and instantly, they felt elevated. When hosting, you don’t always have to make everything from scratch. Sometimes, it’s all about the presentation — just one thoughtful vessel, plate, or piece of cutlery can make all the difference in creating a special experience for your guests.
Just One: Frame
Here’s a simple way to add personality to your kitchen — one that’s meaningful, warm, and surprisingly easy: just one frame. There’s not always room for big styling moments in the kitchen, but it’s a space you move through daily — so why not make it feel a little more elevated? A small, intentional frame can bring softness and story to even the most functional corner. And in a space centered around food and ritual, what better to frame than a recipe? A handwritten one from your mom, your grandmother, or a favorite family dish — something that brings comfort and memory every time you see it.
In my kitchen, I framed one of my favorite daal recipes from my mom. Bonus points if you want to pair it with a small illustration or sketch to bring a touch of art into the space (I had my dad loosely draw a sprig of cilantro from memory).
The idea is to complement what’s already there with something personal and intentional — and especially in small spaces, it’s a beautiful way to layer meaning into the everyday.
